The Founder Brian Cowell
How Martial Arts Influenced Brian's SwiftKick Vision
Brian's journey in martial arts training began when he was three years old, which is why he designs curriculum for students starting at three in the Explorers Program. His mother initiated martial arts training because Brian was shy and struggled in school.Â
Brian found practical uses for his martial arts training and enjoyed the physical and mental elements of martial arts. Brian realized how unique and relevant quality martial arts training was and how it had the ability to transform lives.
As Brian’s confidence grew, he began teaching martial arts at 15 and continued his training and instructing as he went on to graduate from San Diego State University with a B.S. in Psychology and an MBA. Brian continued his martial arts through college until he was faced with an injury that threatened to take it all away. This pivotal point in his life is when Brian began to clearly see the vision for creating a safe and encouraging martial arts studio where he could share the benefits of martial arts: SwiftKick Martial Arts.
What SwiftKick Martial Arts Offers
Brian's personal experience growing up with martial arts training has given him unique insight to the training that is appropriate and most practical for each age group. The knowledge and experience gained through Brian's martial arts journey allowed him to collectively create meaningful curriculum that brings together the best techniques from several martial art styles, giving SwiftKick students a tailored training experience. Brian's classes and modules are designed so students learn to set goals, achieve them, and become the best version of themselves.
Brian wants everyone to know that regardless of the challenges people face, there is a place for martial arts to help! The skills of discipline, staying positive and working hard help establish strong character and integrity, which are core tenets of martial arts training.Â
Brian's vision for SwiftKick began with small classes of students at parks, community centers, and churches. Today, SwiftKick has two permanent locations in Carlsbad and Rancho Bernardo. Brian thoughtfully hires instructors, many whom have been part of the SwiftKick family. More than 18 instructors work tirelessly to share the benefits of martial arts with the community through an encouraging and supportive learning atmosphere.
Brian began SwiftKick Martial Arts to transform lives through the power of martial arts and help others unlock the secret of accessing their potential.Â
